ABSTRACT
A simple, reproducible and efficient method for the simultaneous determination of metformin hydrochloride and rosiglitazone were developed and validated. The method employs formation and solving of simultaneous equations using 237 and 315 nm as two analytical wavelengths. Metformin hydrochloride showed absorption maximum at 237 nm and rosiglitazone showed absorption maximum at 315 nm in methanol. The analysis complied with Beer's law in the concentration range of 2-10 μg/ml for metformin hydrochloride and 3-30 μg/ml for rosiglitazone. The molar absorptivity of metformin hydrochloride and rosiglitazone were 1.236 x 104 and 4.4207 x 103, respectively. The sandell's sensitivity of metformin hydrochloride and rosiglitazone were 1.04 x 10-2 and 8.08 x 10-2, respectively. The method allows rapid analysis of binary pharmaceutical formulation with accuracy. The Analysis was validated using statistical methods and the recovery studies confirmed the accuracy of the proposed methods.
