In this article the author offers observations on the life and work of the American fiber artist and basketmaker Elizabeth Whyte Schulze. Particular focus is given to how her work has been influenced by the Lascaux Paleolithic cave paintings of Southern France. Her use of imagery including human figures, ancient symbols and patterns is also discussed.
