ABSTRACT
The article deals with the role of intravenous (IV) insulin performed in reducing mortality or dependency in patients trying to maintain normoglycemia after acute ischemic stroke. A meta-analysis of studies that compared insulin with placebo or no treatment, high- with low-dose insulin, or tight glycemic control is included. The results show that IV insulin increased the risk for hypoglycemia.
