ABSTRACT
The article presents a study which examined whether late initiation of parenteral nutrition (PN) in critically ill patients at nutritional risk reduces length of stay (LOS) in the intensive care unit (ICU). Results showed that median ICU LOS was shorter in the late-initiation than in the early-initiation group. The study concluded that late initiation of PN reduced infection rates and LOS in the ICU.
