Extended learning time offers promise in raising achievement

The article discusses that the study "Time Well Spent" reports improved academic performance from a mix of 30 public and charter schools that provided extended learning time to their students. Also recommended were successful practices which include individualized goals per student, culture of accountability and continuous teacher professional education. It was stressed that the program needs teacher involvement and buy-in and adequate compensation.
