In this article an academic librarian provides advice to mid-career librarians on ways in which they can transition into managerial roles. She reflects on her own experience to comment on various topics including job hunting and the responsibilities and expectations placed upon library administrators at universities. She comments that library managers should expect frequent organizational changes and urges individuals to participate in peer-review of academic writing and professional presentations to enhance their job prospects.
