ABSTRACT
The author discusses Apple Inc. executive Tim Cook's role in improving and streamlining the company's production and logistics processes. He is credited with persuading Apple co-founder Steve Jobs to outsource the company's production to Asian countries. Jobs' acknowledgment that Cook's reorganization of Apple's supply chain has been key to the company's growth. The role of lean supply chains and effective procurement in Apple's success is also cited.
