ABSTRACT
The article discusses the case of a 69-year-old woman who developed pneumohydropericardium with cardiac tamponade after pericardiocentesis. Chest x-ray showed air separating the pericardium from the heart while echocardiogram revealed moderate amount of pericardial effusion and signs of tamponade including early right ventricular diastolic collapse. After surgical pericardial drainage was performed, dyspnoea resolved with significant increase in blood pressure.
