The article focuses on the utilization of a multislice computer tomography (MSCT) for the assessment of the aortic root to determine the position of the valve and guide valve sizing during transcutaneous aortic implantation (TAVI). It notes that sizing and positioning are the two vital factors for corrective aortic valve placement to prevent adverse outcomes such as paraprosthetic regurgitation and asymmetrical expansion. On the other hand, it discusses the important parameters in determining the severity of heart failure such as the ejection fraction (EF) and the left ventricular filling pressure.

A patient with Takayasu's arteritis type III (according to Ueno's classification) presented with intractable heart failure due to severe aortic regurgitation. To our knowledge this is the first case in the literature in which involvement of the aortic valve required valvular replacement.

We evaluated the short-term safety and efficacy of using the TandemHeart(®) percutaneous ventricular assist device in high-risk patients undergoing aortic valvuloplasty procedures. Gated single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) myocardial perfusion imaging has proven to be invaluable not only in assessing myocardial perfusion, but also in providing functional and volumetric information. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of clinical variables and...

We report computed tomographic findings of two unusual cases of sudden cardiac arrest. The imaging features documented include reflux of contrast into the abdomen as indicated by opacification of renal veins, hepatic veins, inferior vena cava, and hepatic and renal parenchyma. The reflux of...

Background: Transcatheter aortic-valve implantation (TAVI) is an emerging intervention for the treatment of high-risk patients with severe aortic stenosis and coexisting illnesses. We report the results of a prospective multicenter study of the French national transcatheter aortic-valve...

The article presents a study on aortic valve insufficiency post transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) emphasizing on its most significant cause paravalvular leak (PVL). It states that the paravalvular leak majorly takes place due to undersize of the valve. Studies on transthoracic...

Abstract: Objectives: The Ross procedure is the aortic valve-replacement procedure of choice in children.
