ABSTRACT
The article discusses books designed by Dutch designer Irma Boom. The author describes books as art objects and traces Boom's career including her time working in a government printing office, her design of a stamp book for the Dutch Postal and Telecommunications Service (PTT), her design of a book about the SHV (Coal Trade Association) for philanthropist Paul Fentener van Vlissingen, and her design of a monograph about fiber artist Sheila Hicks.
