ABSTRACT
The article discusses the content of the report in the Online First by Archives of Dermatology in the U.S., which states that taking oral antibiotics to treat acne is associated with pharyngitis. The authors examined the association between antibiotics used to treat acne and pharyngitis and the colonization rates of group A streptococcus which is responsible for most cases of streptococcal illness. It states that 10 of 15 patients receiving oral antibiotics reported an episode of pharyngitis.
