ABSTRACT
The article reports that BP PLC is using permanently installed waveguide wireless sensors, called Permasense, that can measure the thickness of a pipe or a vessel wall to a resolution of 0.1mm. As reported in an article in "BP Magazine," any unexpected changes in the wall thickness alerts corrosion engineers to an unduly corrosive process. Without the permanent sensors, infrequent information readings would lead to different process or crude.
