Study of CuO Nanoparticles Synthesized by Sol-gel Method

In this work, CuO nanoparticles have been synthesized by sol-gel method and sintered in air at various selected temperatures ranging from 100 to 400 °C. The as prepared samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) for structural analysis and UV spectroscopy for optical band gap. The XRD pattern indicates the phase formation of CuO and the particle size, calculated from XRD data, has been found ∼34 nm. Furthermore, the band gap calculated from UV spectroscopy has been varied in the range 3.51 to 3.83 eV.
