There has been a great deal of speculation regarding consolidation in the alcohol industry. To date, however, there has been scant scientific research on the subject. This study attempts to evaluate mergers and acquisitions activity among alcohol wholesaler-distributors. If the industry trend is towards consolidation, there are significant implications for suppliers, wholesalers, retailers, and consumers. Management strategies will need to adapt to the new industry profile. Recommendations are detailed at the end of the study.
