ABSTRACT
The article the discusses the advantages and disadvantages of alloy and alloy alternatives for lens processing. It states that alloy has been the most stable of the thermo-reactive blocking medium for surfacing and is compatible with the autoregressive (AR) processing. On the other hand, mechanical properties of alloy has environmental impact and its use is expensive. Moreover, it mentions about Nucleo as a new technology which addresses issues in thermo-reactive blocking media.
