ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the decline of earnings of several companies in the steel industry for the third quarter of 2011 in the U.S. AK Steel Corp. reported a net loss of 3.5 million dollars for the quarter. Alcoa Inc. has reported an increase in its third-quarter revenue and earnings but experienced lower results as compared to the previous year due to lower metal prices and weakness in Europe. Kaiser Aluminum Corp. reported a net income of 4 million dollars on sales.
