ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a study which develops a general framework for modeling and defining the epistasis between multiallelic quantitative trait loci (QTLs). The study derives a statistical algorithm for the estimation of multiallelic epistasis between different QTLs and uses it for genomewide scan of the distribution of multiallelic epistasis for a rooting ability trait in poplar trees.

Primary causes of heterosis are still unknown. Our goal was to investigate the extent and underlying genetic causes of heterosis for five biomass-related traits in Arabidopsis thaliana. We (i) investigated the relative contribution of dominance and epistatic effects to heterosis in the hybrid...

The adaptation of deepwater rice to flooding is attributed to two mechanisms, submergence tolerance and plant elongation. Using a QTL mapping study with replicated phenotyping under two contrasting (water qualities) submergence treatments and AFLP markers, we were able to identify several...

A definition of the term "additive genes" is presented. It refers to the interaction of genes without dominance when it is regarded as an allele, or without epistasis when it is regarded as non-allele. There is enhanced expression of any genetic tr

A definition of the term "epistasis" is presented. It refers to the ability of one gene to interfere with the phenotypic expression of another non-allelic gene. Such gene interaction occurs so that the phenotype is identified effectively by the form
