ABSTRACT
In this article the author presents a critique of American spending habits, and cites the need for greater moderation. He states that while Americans do work long hours for more pay, they do so to fund lavish spending habits, which are simply not sustainable. He claims that despite the recession, spending will again increase during the holiday season, proof that Americans are currently suffering not because of a poor economy, but because of one which mitigates their ability to spend more.
