ABSTRACT
The article reports that U.S. Senatro Kelly Ayotte is co-sponsoring a bill, which would let entrepreneurs raise up to 1 million dollars a year by selling ownership stakes in their companies through crowdfunding websites. The crowdfunding sites would be required to conduct background checks on those making offerings, all cash management would have to be performed by a qualified third party, and it would establish a complaint process for investors, among other protections.
