The article presents information on the growth pattern of takaful (Islamic mutual insurance) industry reaching towards 200 operators as shown by the fifth World Islamic Insurance Directory (WIID) launched at the World Takaful Conference in Dubai. The worldwide Islamic insurance contributions increased to 18 percent from 9.4 billion dollars to 11.1 billion dollars. The largest number of Islamic insurance operators were with Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) standing at 77.
