ABSTRACT
The article reports on the Plaid Friday initiative which aims to ask business members and customers to buy-local business products across New Hampshire. According to David Boynton, executive director of Seacost Local, the campaign is about educating consumers about the benefits of shopping locally. Study shows independent businesses in communities with such initiatives made 5.6 percent gains compared to the 2.0 percent growth experienced by independents in regions without such campaigns.
