ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the study regarding fibrinogen obtained from citrated blood plasma. It says that thrombin was used for the transition of fibrin-stabilizing factor (factor XIII) to the active form (XIIIa). It mentions that incubation of soluble fibrin polymers with factor XIIIa showed the absence of the enzymatic activity of the enzyme even at the lowest possible concentration. Moreover, the presence of factor XIIIa resulted to the formation of soluble covalently linked fibrin oligomers.

The article presents a research that studies the different oxidative ability of fibrinogen domains D and E when exposed to reactive oxygen species (ROS) attack. Fibrinogen is a soluble plasma protein that is responsible for the formation of insoluble fibrin gel in the presence of thrombin. Also,...

The crosslinking of fibrin γ-polypeptide chains under the influence of the plasma fibrin-stabilizing factor (FXIIIa), which causes their conversion to γ-γ dimers, is the major enzyme reaction of covalent fibrin stabilization. We studied the self-assembly of soluble cross-linked fibrin...

Thrombin and plasmin, both of which are serine proteases in the plasma of vertebrates, play essential roles in blood clotting and fibrinolysis, respectively, and regulation of their activities is important to suppress the excessive reactions within the vascular network and to prevent tissue...

Ozone-induced oxidation of fibrinogen has been investigated. The conversion of oxidized fibrinogen to fibrin catalyzed either by thrombin or by a reptilase-like enzyme, ancistron, in both cases is accompanied by production of gels characterized by a higher weight/length ratio of fibrils in...

Plasma thrombin-antithrombin III (T-AT) complexes are reputed to be an indirect manifestation of thrombin generation, and a role for their determination in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) has been advocated.
