ABSTRACT
The article offers reports on the Bank Transfer Day consumer activism initiative and the marketing campaigns of credit unions (CUs) across the U.S. Bethpage Federal Credit Union (FCU) in Bethpage, New York opened free checking accounts for its members. Freedom CU in Warminster, Pennsylvania posted a 67% increase in membership applications with its debit card promotion. United Teletech CU in Tinton, New Jersey placed banners and signs announcing its as the Bank Transfer Headquarters.
