ABSTRACT
The article discusses several issues regarding the definitions, measures and improvement of employee engagement in Great Britain. It presents the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development 2011 Employee Outlook survey's findings on employee engagement. It tackles the various definitions of employee engagement and the pivotal part played by line managers. The important role for human resources professionals in helping line managers to design jobs and develop selection process is tackled.
