ABSTRACT
The article discusses the trend for families in the U.S. to decide for the sea burial of the cremated remains of relatives. It cites the example of Karen Ollivierre, a lover of the water and cancer victim from Jackson, New Jersey who requested her husband to bury her at sea after her death in 2010. It examines the influence of the green movement and the decision of the family of John F. Kennedy Jr. to scatter his remains at sea on the popularity of the service.
