ABSTRACT
The article presents information on Allstate Insurance Co.'s acquisition of Esurance Inc. and its sister company, Answer Financial, which was announced on May 18, 2011. According to Ray Barrette, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Esurance's parent company, White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd., the deal would leave White Mountains with 2 billion dollars in undeployed capital. The deal will also double its estimated market share of the direct auto channel to 4%.
