ABSTRACT
The article presents a study on the safety and effectiveness of two treatment regimes with tranexamic acid to minimize inflammatory response in elective cardiopulmonary bypass patients. From December 2005 to January 2007, a randomized study with 160 consecutive adult patients undergoing elective cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) was performed. Before CPB, all participants had normal bleeding time, platelet collagen/epinephrine and collagen.
