ABSTRACT
This article stresses that the essence of leadership is in being authentic. The author discloses that leadership is not about trying to emulate someone else or having the ideal leadership style. The article emphasizes that a leader can become self-aware by starting with experiences in leading others in schools, sports or work and in seeking honest feedback from people one works with. It points out that leadership results from one's example of empowering others to step up and lead.
