ABSTRACT
Second harmonic generation from the plasma density gradient induced by ponderomotive force was studied. Images of the second harmonic emission at the focal point, where the intensity was above 10[sup 17] W/cm², were observed. These images strongly depended on the polarization of the pump pulse. The polarization of the second harmonic was the same as that of the pump pulse. Experimental results were well explained by the theoretical model.

In this paper, we consider second harmonic generation and its phase-matching in an underdense plasma in the presence of a wiggler magnetic field. Wiggler magnetic field plays both a dynamic role in producing the traverse harmonic current and a kinematical role in ensuring phase-matching. The...

Coherent A1(LO) phonon and its coupling with photoexcited plasmon in wurtzite InN were generated and detected with time-resolved second-harmonic generation. The experimental results directly reveal that the plasma damping time constant is about 60∼120 fs, which depends on the photoexcited...

We propose a new mechanism of high-order harmonic generation during an interaction of a high-intensity laser pulse with underdense plasma.
