ABSTRACT
The article reports that labor unions in New York have protested in response to the proposed tax cap and 1.3 billion dollars budget cuts for public schools and colleges. It says that New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) has been using media, the courts and collective bargaining to address best practices in education, while labor activism in the area has been at its highest level. According to NYSUT president Dick Iannuzzi, politicians and policymakers are accountable for their actions.
