ABSTRACT
The article reports on toy company Mattel Inc.'s acquisition of HIT Entertainment PLC from Apax Partners. The law firm Latham & Watkins was the legal advisor on the transaction. HIT's interest in the cable network station Sprout was not included in the deal due to HIT's decision to sell it to a third party. Mattel's plan to finance the transaction with cash and debt is described. Other companies who bid for HIT are mentioned, including Saban Brands and Tomy Co.
