ABSTRACT
The article presents the views of Francois Lâcote, Alstom's senior vice-president and technical advisor, at the Expo 1520 event near Moscow, Russia, regarding the choice facing countries with a political will to invest in inter-city rail. He predicts the evolution of the European inter-city rail market and notes Alstom's Pendolino design. The walls preventing a free flow of technical information between operator and manufacturer are also noted.
