ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the rise of political assassinations and murder of those who are considered enemies of Islam. She notes that the assassination of four Iranian opposition leaders in Berlin, Germany on September 17, 1992 and the lengthy trial that followed it reflects its prevalence. She attributes the rise to the European governments which she says only detain suspected assassins and then deport them back to Iran for the release of hostages.
