ABSTRACT
In this study, we tried to analyse the place of grammar in a french teaching methods. Methods were selected and studied in terms of comparative method in order to analyse better the procedures and evaluations of activities. We took up methods which are said 'traditionals' which contain the direct method from 1901 to 1960s, audio lingual method from 1940 to 1970, structure-global audio visual method from 1960 to 1970 and methods which are said 'moderns' which contain communicative approach method from 1970 to years 2000 and finally which is actual method (co-) actual. For the traditional methods, we studied essentially among these three methods which are Cours de Langue et de Civilisation Français, Le Français Accéléré et Intercodes, because of their affinity and progress of lesson rather than considered classic. These methods are included the gramar formal and applied it structurally and explicitly. Contrary to traditional metods, these metods take into account, the situations, the functional notions and apply them to the implicit grammar. We concretized our point of view, by basing on the examples and the census of the metods mentioned. We reached to a conclusion that what the training objects and process of grammar must be according to linguistic demand of learner.
