ABSTRACT
The article discusses the Hurricane and Spitfire aircrafts and their role in the 1940 Battle of Britain. According to the author, the Hurricane's manoeuvrability gave it an advantage over German aircraft during dogfights. It is suggested that the Spitfire was equal to German aircraft in speed and that this was a factor in its relatively low death rate compared to the Hurricane. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) is also discussed.
