ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the move of the Israeli government to make a strategic decision in setting a science-based sector by offering financial support for commercial research and development. It notes that the Office of the Chief Scientist was instituted within the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labour which is projected to play as a significant player during the high-technology boom. Also, it mentions that the Office's matching grants programme is at the core of the Israeli innovation policy.
