The article presents information on a study conducted on the differential effects of a post-anthesis fertilizer on the wheat flour proteome. In the study, plants of Triticum aestivum were grown with or without post-anthesis fertilization (PAF), and quantitative 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) was used to analyze protein composition of the resulting flour. The study concluded that A 2-DE approach revealed changes in the wheat flour proteome due to PAF.

Main conclusion: The present study is the first to integrate physiological and proteomic data providing information on Fe, Mn and Zn deficiency-responsive mechanisms of potato plants in vitro. Micronutrient deficiency is an important limiting factor for potato production that causes substantial...

Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) is currently a widely used analytical method for resolving complex mixtures of proteins. Sample preparation has a marked influence on 2-DE pattern. To reduce impurities and to increase the low-abundance proteins, protein precipitation is often used for...

Proteomics is analyzing the total amount of proteins expressed in a certain time point, in an organism, a tissue or a cell, by using protein separation and identification techniques. From 1994, proteomics was first introduced by Marc. R. Wilkins, to now proteomics advanced and begins to use in...

Background: Anopheles gambiae is the main vector of Plasmodium falciparum in Africa. The mosquito midgut constitutes a barrier that the parasite must cross if it is to develop and be transmitted. Despite the central role of the mosquito midgut in the host/parasite interaction, little is known...

Background: Trypanosoma cruzi, a flagellate protozoan, is the etiological agent of Chagas disease, a chronic illness that causes irreversible damage to heart and digestive tract in humans. Previous 2-DE analyses of T. cruzi proteome have not focused on basic proteins, possibly because of...
