ABSTRACT
The article presents a discussion on Sister Michael Marie, a Catholic nun from Clarksburg, Ohio, and her efforts in rescuing animals in Japan after the recent earthquake in 2011. An animal lover since childhood, she got trained by the Red Cross and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and has traveled worldwide in animal rescue missions. When pet and farm animals were stuck in the Minamisoma and Okuma towns in Japan due to a nuclear scare, Sister Marie worked relentlessly to save them.
