ABSTRACT
The article presents a study on how organizations escape the effects of institutional voids in the case of the market for small-scale renewables in Tajikistan. The researcher used the organizational field of a developing nation as a research setting for studying the process of new market creation in the context of institutional voids. He found that organizations that allow their structural units on the ground more decision-making discretion are able to compensate for the lack of market-supporting institutions, enjoy legitimacy in the organizational field and have access to resources.
