ABSTRACT
The article focuses on block weaves, which refer to structures that enable warp and weft threads to be interlaced either as pattern or as background. Block weaves such as overshot and spot Bronson are not considered unit weaves because they are said to have limitations that restrict their use with profile drafts. Several variations of a two-block design from weaver Mary Meigs Atwater are presented, which include Quigley, beiderwand and turned twill.
