Implementing FSMA offers challenges to FDA

The article reports on the impact of the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FMSA) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Texas. According to captain Catherine Vieweg, director of compliance branch of the FDA Southwest Import District Department (SWID), the lack of funding for the enforcement of the law is among the vital issue facing the FDA. Vieweg believes that the law offers potential to improve food safety in the country.
