The article discusses the authors' perspectives on the viability of life insurance placements and alternative investments. They explain that private placement life insurance (PPLI) is a custom-designed variable universal life insurance that can rival any type of alternative investments. The authors assert that PPLI can provide diversification and portfolio allocation opportunity and benefits for investors and clients in an alternative investment without the impact of income tax and estate tax consequences.
