ABSTRACT
The authors discuss the strategies used at a hospital-based outpatient cancer center at the Adele R. Decof Cancer Center to minimize medication costs. They mention the collaboration required between pharmacists, physicians, and nurses, and explain the implementation of block scheduling, and an automated dispensing system to achieve transparency and accountability at the center. The use of a controlled-substance management system for chemotherapy agents is also discussed.
