ABSTRACT
In this article the author discusses the decision of India to create a shortlist in its $10 billion procurement programme to acquire 126 medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA). He informs that India has shortlisted the Eurofighter Typhoon and the RAFALE aircraft by Dassault Aviation SA and discusses why these were chosen. He notes that this is the first big fighter aircraft procurement deal in India involving six international bidders.
