ABSTRACT
The article reports on a study by Maki D. G. and colleagues discussing how an antimicrobial, antithrombotic lock solution helped in reducing catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) in patients who received dialysis. The study found a reduction in CRBSIs compared with conventional unfractionated heparin. It also stated that lock solution is an antiseptic and thus reduces concerns about promotion of bacterial resistance.
