ABSTRACT
This section offers news briefs concerning the railway industry. A 40 million U.S. dollars loan was approved by the African Development Bank for the investment plan of Rift Valley Railways to develop rail freight in Kenya and Uganda. An experimental container train was ran by Sri Lanka Railways and SG Logistics to Colombo port. Canadian National is likely to complete by the end of 2011 a programme to improve the Athabasca Northern line to Fort McMurray, near the Alberta oil sands region.
