ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the self-imposed restraint in the executive pay of chief executive officer (CEO) Philippe Dauman of Viacom Inc. It says that Dauman was denied of his target bonus in 2009. It mentions that the self-imposed cost-cutting was stopped as the economy improved, wherein a 50 million dollars salary increase was granted to Dauman. Moreover, the said raise makes Dauman as the highest paid CEO in New York City and in the U.S., as confirmed by the data of the AFL-CIO.
