ABSTRACT
The article discusses considerations for metal service centers when using enterprise resource planning (ERP) software solutions to address complex business operations arising from mergers and acquisitions. It states that service centers can implement either an integrated solution wherein all acquisitions are integrated into a single database or an independent option wherein acquired companies are managed independently. Among the ERP issues explored are scalability, security and stock inquiry.
