ABSTRACT
This article reports on the plans of the American Bondholders Foundation to reclaim funds owed by the Chinese government to the U.S. taxpayers as of April 2002. A group of 200 U.S. citizens is trying to reclaim $70 billion owed to U.S. taxpayers by the Chinese government in the form of bonds issued by China between 1911 and 1942. They have formed the American Bondholders Foundation, located in Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue their claims. The American Bondholders Foundation think that they can pursue their claims. They cite the fact that China has paid British citizens with similar claims, after the British government refused to allow China into their markets until they paid up.
