ABSTRACT
The article reports that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has no plan to continue certification and production of a new system designed to scan containers and vehicles for radiological materials at ports of entry. According to the U.S. Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO), DHS will focus on pursuing commercial alternatives as well as new handheld detection devices. DNDO is also planning to take advantage of advances in handheld radiation detection and identification devices.
